Legal Requirements

As a non-resident of Gibraltar you can be married by special license granted by the governor. The following documents must be presented at the registrars office by 10am on the working day prior to the wedding.
(i)
- A certified copy of the original of your full birth certificate.
- Your passport
Widows or Widowers will need, in addition to (i), a certified copy of the death certificate of your spouse. If you are not named on this certificate you will need to bring a certified copy of the original of your marriage certificate.
Divorced Persons will need, in addition to (i), a certified copy of your previous marriage certificate and an original copy of your final and absolute divorce decree.
Non-British Nationals will need, in addition to (i), a civil status certificate confirming that you have never married.
16-18 yr olds will need to provide, in addition to (i), written consent of both parents or legal guardians.
If you have changed your name, in addition to (i), you will need your original change of name deed.
